Civic Engagement

Description

Through civic engagement, students contribute their time, energy, and unique talents to help communities in need. These unpaid experiential learning opportunities are related to a student’s field of study or career interests and are offered through groups and organizations external to RPI.

Please Note: Students should be registered for ILEA 4400 by the add deadline of their Discovery Semester. Any student not registered is at risk of disenrollment after the fifth week of that semester.

Requirements

  • Civic Engagement experiences must involve supervision by an individual who is knowledgeable in the field at the selected organization.
  • A minimum of 260 hours must be dedicated to this semester-away opportunity.
  • Students must satisfactorily complete a mandatory LMS course (ILEA 4400) during their Discovery Semester.
